Work Exchange (WX)
Welcome to the Work Exchange (WX) Program
Formerly known as “volunteering,” the Easter Swing Work Exchange Program honors the time, labor, and effort provided by those who assist in running Easter Swing hosted by the Seattle Swing Dance Club, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Thank you for your interest in our self-service WX Program! This program offers you the opportunity to:
Create your own weekend work schedule
Engage with the dance community
Contribute to the event’s success
Receive an all-inclusive pass to Easter Swing
The Work Exchange Program takes place during Easter Swing, from the event’s pre-event setup to the official start time until its conclusion. (Please refer to the event schedule for specific dates and times, as this may be subject to change.)
PLEASE NOTE
Because it can be an economic hardship to attend a WCS weekend event, we do not require work exchange participants to prepay for their ticket, except half-passes will be required to pay half the early bird price of their selected pass on-site during event check-in at Easter Swing registration desk.
IMPORTANT
The WX Program is based on trust – we trust you to complete your shifts!
You’ll receive your pass at check-in
5-minute transition time between back-to-back shifts
Stay at your post until :30 or :00 if you don’t have a following shift
It takes a community to make the magic.
How would you like to help?
Floor Work
Setup and teardown the dance floors in the ballrooms. If you enjoy hands-on work, lifting, kneeling, and bending, this is a great opportunity for you to contribute to the success of Easter Swing while earning your pass, a hotel night, or an intensive of your choice!
Registration Desk
Help check in dancers for Easter Swing. You'll look up tickets, hand out wristbands and competition bibs, answer basic questions, and help make sure everyone starts their weekend smoothly.
Ballroom Setup, Decor, & Trophies
Contribute creatively and physically to the success of Easter Swing. Tasks include arranging decorations, organizing trophies, and ensuring the ballroom is ready for performances and social dances. This role is ideal for those with an eye for detail and a knack for hands-on projects.
Grand Ballroom Monitor
You'll be stationed at the Grand Ballroom entrance, where you’ll check passes, manage entry, and ensure the space remains secure for all participants.
This is a great opportunity for those who want to be involved in a less physically demanding role, while still contributing to the event’s success.
Workshop Monitor
Workshop monitors help maintain smooth workshop flow and assist instructors. You'll check wristbands for proper level access, give instructors timing updates, and ensure appropriate class sizes.
Work Exchange Table
You'll be the central hub for all work exchange volunteers. This role involves setting up and managing the Work Exchange information table, tracking gift pickup, and helping coordinate between volunteers and leads.
Merchandise Booth
A retail role to help us sell and distribute clothing and swag! Being social and knowing how to handle a square payment platform are helpful, but we will teach you everything.
